Chapter 04 — The House
Thirty-four years
of the same bench.
Aurum opened in 1992 on the third floor of a narrow building in Valenza, with one bench, two hammers, and enough 18-karat gold to make three rings. Paolo Aurum left it to his daughter Amelia in 2004, who added a vitrine in Paris, and kept everything else exactly the same.
We still work on the same bench. The same stones come from the same cutters in Antwerp. The same finishers draw the same files across the same insides of the rings — which is why, when a client brings a piece back in thirty years, we can re-make it.
